The Grand Hotel

The original opulent American style Grand Hotel opened at Deepwater Point, Labrador, in 1886 and was described as “equal to any hotel in Australia”.  In 1975 the iconic building burned to the ground, was rebuilt in 1982, but was demolished in 1990 and the site left vacant until the current hotel opened in 2001.

Drawing reference from the vernacular of the original building and other hotels of that era, the hotel and 4 restaurants occupy the ground level, whilst the first storey façade envelops the podium of the contemporary style residential tower above.
